  2.         Sound Manager 1.0 Notes & Registration

  5. Sound Manager is NOT freeware.  It is shareware and
  6. copyright 1993 by Derek Backus and Todd Henschell.  It
  7. is not guaranteed to do anything other than use up
  8. your disk space, and we're not liable for anything else
  9. it does.  By evaluating it, you agree to this.
  10.  
  11. Now that the legal junk is out of the way...
  12.  
  13. Sound Manager is a handy tool for those who have lots of
  14. sound files and no real easy way to sort through them,
  15. copy them, and otherwise gain control of them.  Some
  16. applications can play them, others can copy them here
  17. and there, but to our knowledge, only Sound Manager will
  18. let you play them and then decide what to do with the file
  19. once you've heard it.
  20.  
  21. It's great for quickly looking through large collections,
  22. deciding which sound files to weed from your system (they
  23. eat space like Godzilla ate Tokyo) and for just generally
  24. getting a grip on these pesky space-wasters.
  25.  
  26. Sound Manager is only $5.  There are no docs, no help
  27. files, and no pester screens.  It's easy to figure out
  28. and simple to operate.  By now everybody knows what
  29. a file management dialogue looks like, and that's all
  30. you need to know to use Sound Manager.  We're not
  31. gonna tell you anything else.  Just try it and see
  32. what you think.

  34. A Few Tips:
  35.  
  36. You can highlight as many sound files as
  37. you want, but only the LAST file you clicked on will
  38. play.  COPY/DELETE/MOVE will work on ALL HIGHLIGHTED
  39. files!  To play a file double-click it or click it
  40. once and click PLAY.  To unhilite it, just click it
  41. again and the highlight is off.

  43. You can also click once in the file list box, then
  44. hit the spacebar to "unhilight" the file -- whereupon
  45. from then on, simply pressing Enter while the highlight
  46. box is around a file name will play it.  It's easy to
  47. zip through a huge directory this way and quickly sample
  48. files.

  50. You can interrupt a file if you want by playing another,
  51. no reason to wait if you don't want to hear it, Windows
  52. (and Sound Manager) doesn't care.

  54. Nothing fancy is happening here, and those are the
  55. only "tricky" points of the program.

  57. Simple is the goal we had in mind with this one.

  59. There is an About box, and if you press "I" while
  60. it's open you'll see the credits, if such things
  61. interest you.

  63. Please register this product if you intend to use it.

  65. You are free to evaluate it for thirty days, after which
  66. we expect you to fork over five measly bucks.  If you
  67. don't pay, well, then may 60hz line noise corrupt all 
  68. those WAV files you have on your disk.

  71. by Derek Backus.  The teensy bit of graphics used in the
  72. program were conceived and created by Todd Henschell.

  76. VISA registration or any of that nonsense.  It's just
  77. five bucks.

  79. Have fun with Sound Manager, that's why we created it.
  80. Depending on the support we get, we may or may not
  81. release future versions with more features (like 
  82. conversions from VOC, SND, etc. and with waveform
  83. screens and all that sort of nonsense).
